Saving Your Skin... and Your Wallet

Hello Bridal Beauties,

I hope this wintery week in The Hudson Valley is finding all of you well, or at least allowing you the valuable time needed to get some of your very important wedding duties checked off on your to do list. This time of year a lot of people are spending, while at the same time worrying about saving. For you brides to be especially, this can be very difficult. But in the beauty world, this can be even harder, especially for brides. Why?

Because for many companies they make the products we so desperately need, crazily expensive, and not just the, " oh should I get the dress or the shoes?" but rather the, "Oh no should I not driver this month and forgo the car insurance payment or by this expensive face cream that will make me look amazing on my wedding?" The beauty world does have its amazing and sought after benefits that we all love. But when it comes to sun screen, do we really need to spend so much to look as good as we want? I have one word for you, NO.

Let me introduce you to an amazing line that not only fits within the needs your skin but also fits within your budget. The line is called Boots No.7 and it is carried in all Target stores. Don't let the look of the box and the packaging fool you, this is a skin that delivers. This brand first launched in the U.K. , and has now made it's way to the U.S.A. With products ranging from $6-$35, it offers skin specific products ranging from anything from sensitive, to acne prone, to mature, to just the everyday face wash, this line not only amazes, it DELIVERS.

As a makeup artist here in The Hudson Valley, I am always struggling to find a line that is not only good, but that I can use on all of my clients and not have to worry about an onset of red faced, stressed out brides who have reacted to the very product the company promised me they would love. This is where Boots No. 7 comes into play. I especially love their sensitive skin line as it really helps to moisturize and protect while being able to meld with every skin type. Definitely try the Sensitive Skin Moisturizing Serum with the Sensitive Skin Moisturizer. They truly transform your skin. (Remember to always use a serum under your moisturizer in the winter as they do a lot inhelping your moisturzer to seep into your skin, thus giving you the moisture need, ASAP).

So if you're out there over the next few weeks and visiting targets in Poughkeepsie, Middletown, Kingston, or anywhere in the Hudson Valley, or even online, just make sure you pass byt the Boots No. 7 products and see for yourself how you can transform your skin into the best it can be, at a fraction of the cost.

Until next time,

Makeup Inspiration From ... The Stars

Celebrity Inspired Makeup Looks "For Every Bride"

Hello, Beautiful Brides!!! For my very first beauty post I wanted to focus on something that seems to be almost universal when it comes to finding the perfect bridal look - INSPIRATION!!! And sometimes there is no better place to look that to ... the stars.

Having professional makeup artists at their beck and call, these looks deserve some real commendation as well as attention. Why? Because unbeknownst to the celebrities, these looks are actually very easy to pull off. Bad for them, good for us, especially all of you bride to be out there!!!

To start though, we first need to establish some basic makeup inspiration rule: Traditionally makeup is narrowed down to three main categories; Classic which can also be identified with the natural look, Glamorous which is perhaps the most popular look where wither the lips or the eyes take focus, and Dramatic which is for the bride who is all about the beauty and wants it all. In every case, every time, you will always find these three categories in any makeup look. It is important to note though, that the Glamorous look can take on two different looks as you will see below.

How do you know which looks for you? Take a look below to see each celebrity inspired look as we break it down and help you see how you get the same look at a fraction of the cost.

***MAKEUP DISCLAIMER***  Before reading on it is VERY IMPORTANT to remember that no matter which style you choose , it is absolutely essential to remember that makeup should always truly complement you. Makeup should never cover up who you are. You want to look back at your photos with happiness, not regret.

OK... Let's Continue ...

The Classic Look

This look is for the bride that tends to go more toward the natural side. She recognizes that she needs makeup for her wedding day, but less is more. The focus here is flawless and glowing skin with lips and eyes that complement her complexion. This is for the  bride who is looking to make her whole complexion glow and no one features stands out, there is just a complete exquisiteness that makes her look one that will ever be forgotten.
Something to note is that thought his look is very natural, it does require good skincare and maintenance at least 1-3 months before your wedding day.

The Glamorous Bride

If looking to make your eyes the focus, follow the example of Adele in this picture. By using an understated pale lip, her eyes are free to take the stage. By using a strong liner coupled with two to three shades of shadow that complement your eye color, your eyes are certain to shine. This look is definitely a step above the Classic bride in that there is more of a contoured face helping the cheekbones to stand out and the eyes are the focus of attention. This look is great for women who are use to wearing a little makeup and want to step it up just a bit.

If however, you want your lips to be the focus, then follow the example of  Jessica Alba in this picture.  Stick with light shadows and a strong liner. By keeping the eyes simple, your lips take center stage.
An important factor in this look is keeping the face flawless and glowing and keeping the yes understated. By doing this your lips will win everyone over.

The Dramatic Bride

This look is for the bride that is use to wearing makeup and doesn’t mind everyone knowing it. When we think dramatic makeup many people think of Kim Kardashian. Not afraid to admit that she is a cosmetic junkie, Kim Kardashian embraces all that makeup has to offer. In addition to the Glamorous bride this look takes it to a whole new level where lashes and dramatic liner make it the main attraction, while still looking timeless and appropriate.
This look is not for the natural to minimal makeup wearer.
This look, while still timeless and beautiful, definitely is reserved for those who love makeup.

So which look is for you?

Why not explore what your personal makeup tastes are and then tailor your bridal makeup to that. Just remember though, even if you go for a natural makeup look, you will always have to wear just a little bit more than normal, especially for photography. But if it is applied well, no one will even notice.

Until next time,
Jaime

Airbrush Bridal Makeup by Jaime Launches NEW Beauty Blog

Dear Gorgeous Brides to Be,

I am so thrilled and excited to share with all of you the launch of my new blog, Blush & Bride!!! As you may know I am a professional makeup artist in The Hudson valley specializing in airbrush makeup. My business Airbrush Makeup by Jaime, based in Patterson, NY was initiated 8 years ago. Along the way I have met so many amazing brides and learned so much about the world of bridal beauty, along with the knowledge of how to make a bride's wedding day one they can truly feel good about. Yet, there was more.

I created this blog because, even though I love makeup and everything bridal, I still think it is very important for all Brides to Be to be as educated and up to date as possible with what is going on in the world of bridal makeup, especially brides in The Hudson Valley. And this doesn't mean that you have to necessarily have your makeup done professionally either. Instead of holding in all the knowledge and experience I have learned over the years, I am eager to share it with all of you. Hoping that maybe, just maybe, it may help you in planning the most important day of your life.

Much of my professional experience has been in the arenas of TV/Film, editorial, and of course bridal. But bridal of course is my absolute favorite. Taking someone who is so excited and helping them look and feel like a million bucks on such a special day, truly makes me happy that I do what I do,

In my experience I have found that there are makeup artists, and there are professional makeup artists. I think it is very important for any Bride to Be who is planning on investing in making herself feel beautiful, to feel as educated and aware of all that the bridal beauty
world has to offer on their wedding day.

What are some things you can expect to see on Blush & Bride?

Each week I will have a new posting where I will be reviewing my favorite products, sharing first hand experience of Do's and Don'ts on your wedding day explaining vital topics such as: Should I get a facial before my wedding? What colors are good for my skin tone and my eye color, etc? Do I really need to wear more makeup than usual on my wedding day?

This blog's mission is to answer all of your Bridal Beauty questions and to help you make the best choices when it comes to skincare, makeup, color palettes and choices.
